Walk the Moon
Boys just wanna have fun. At least that’s the motto of Walk the Moon, and it’s soon to be yours as well. “We want our music to be the most fun thing you’ve ever listened to in your entire life,” says bassist Kevin Ray. “We want it to not just affect you emotionally, but also physically in that it makes you want to dance.” It’s a big order to fill, but Walk the Moon is doing it without losing their Cheshire grins.
Walk the Moon has a created their own unique sound – a sound influenced by the New Wave stylings of their favorite artists Talking Heads, David Bowie, and The Police, but updated for the 21st century listener. Don’t worry, neon still included.
And it seems everyone who’s crossed paths with Walk the Moon, either live or via their independently-released debut album, i want! i want!, can’t get enough of the quartet. Even a concert goer with the strictest “no dance” policy can’t help but to get sucked into Walk the Moon’s infectious good time. As one fan put it perfectly, saying, “I didn’t even realize I was dancing until I bumped into someone else.” Their debut video for the single “Anna Sun” has spread virally, with almost half a million views on YouTube. After being handpicked to be featured on Last Call with Carson Daly during SxSW, the unsigned band caused a frenzy at the 2011 festival, with labels battling for a piece of action. They’re currently touring supporting Fitz and the Tantrums and working on their sophomore album on RCA.
