Official Charity Partner

We’re thrilled to announce that Answer the Call is the official charity partner of Gov Ball! The New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund is a non-profit organization that assists the families of New York City first responders killed in the line of duty.  When these heroic men and women make the ultimate sacrifice and are killed in the line of duty, the Benefit Fund steps in to provide financial assistance, a network of support, and special gatherings for the families they left behind. Today, the Benefit Fund serves over 600 families of fallen New York City Firefighters, Police Officers, Port Authority Police, and EMS workers.  The Benefit Fund believes it is our turn to “Answer the Call” as these fallen heroes have done to protect our communities and families. To learn more about the Benefit Fund and ways that you can support these families, please visit  Your support will go a long way to help beneficiaries like Elizabeth, who wanted to share the below message with you.

“I am a long time widow.  The Benefit Fund has been a godsend to both my children and myself.  When things were tough, they were there for school tuition, bills, and just to make all of us feel so good.  We shared our spouses with the rest of the world.  We would be lost without the Benefit Fund.” – Elizabeth Edgar (Widow of FDNY Firefighter George A. Edgar, 1976).
